‘Tis the season to get married! At least, other people are getting married. If you’re like me and don’t get invited to one wedding per season then there isn’t much point in getting spenny with your wedding guest outfits. Instead, invest wisely in items you can wear to multiple occasions.
How? The answers are simple my lovelies. Dive into the darkest corners of your closet and you will find what you are looking for.
From wedding guest to beach holiday
Spring and summer are often people’s go-to seasons for weddings. Use this to your advantage by dusting off your favourite summer dresses. When living in colder countries we don’t get to show these dresses the love they deserve. What better way to do so than at a wedding?
Now, to avoid looking too much like you’re off to the beach after it is all about how you style the dress of choice. This gorgeous off-shoulder dress is from ANGELEYE, and was kindly gifted to me.
From wedding guest to the office
Let’s be real, summer in the UK doesn’t mean it will actually be warm. That’s why it’s good to have a more traditional dress up your sleeve as well. This ANGELEYE dress was also kindly gifted to me, and is perfect for a wedding. As well as a day at the office.
To make it less professional I decided to wear it without tights. But to keep the legs warm I added a pair of knee boots that add a bit of playfulness to the look.
How to elevate your look
One thing I’ve learned from dressing on a budget is that it’s all about how you style a look. Let your creativity take over. You could be wearing a plain top and jeans. But by adding the right accessories you could look like a million dollars! For a wedding, it’s all about adding romance and elegance. How?
Invest in accessories
Investing in accessories is something I still need to work on myself. Jewellery, handbags, shoes, they all contribute to a look. And could take that look from zero to one hundred in an instant.
If you’ve got beautiful necklaces, earrings or even a headpiece don’t be afraid to pull them out of the closet for a wedding. Believe me, if it were my wedding I’d be mad at the people not making an effort to look their best! Don’t worry about outshining the bride, as long as you’re not wearing white you could get away with a romantic headpiece.
Invest time in hair and make-up
Like accessories, hair and make-up are the finishing touches to your look. If you normally go for a certain hairstyle and make-up look switch it up for this special occasion. An up-do is always an elegant choice for a wedding.
When it comes to make-up, keep it natural but maybe add a little glitter. Don’t forget the rest of your body, if you are showing off your legs why not add a body shimmer to really make them pop?
After the wedding, strip off all the accessories and head to the beach or office. It’s a simple as that! Make the most out of your clothes, your bank account will thank you later.
Lots of love,
