Natural Hair Journey: update

It has been a hot minute since I did a hair journey update! In all honesty, I haven’t done much else to my hair in the meantime. Just getting my regular trim every 6-8 weeks, and using the same nourishing products.

Back story

In case you haven’t seen my previous posts about natural hair, I decided to stop damaging my hair nearly two years ago now. I went from an awkward curly bob to this ever-growing fro that has become my baby!

For all my curly haired people out there, you can do this too! Patience, and a little creativity is all it takes. You will have to spend some time researching which products do and don’t work for your hair, something that might also change along the way as your hair repairs itself.

The future

Summer is fast approaching, if the weather decides to cooperate that is, and I am so excited to be rocking my long curly hair! Not going to lie, I can already tell you that many bugs will get stuck, lots of neck-overheating will take place and I am a bit scared of what humidity will make my hair look like now… However, I already know it is going to be so great to finally be entirely happy with my hair.

Every summer, I get the urge to dye my hair a bit lighter. Last year I got a balayage, which I want to do again soon. Although now with my undamaged hair, I am so scared to damage my hair again! I think I would literally have a breakdown if I loose my curls! If anyone has tips on how to best treat bleached hair, please do send them my way!

Will you be going natural?

Lots of Love,

Girl, OLAPLEX! I'm a curly girl too – and I've had to do the big chop before because of my previous love of the ole' bleach – and I went to a salon to get it lightened, they used olaplex (£30 extra) and my hair was not damaged AT ALL. It works by repairing the bonds in your hair, so there's no damage xxxmia //

Omg, I took your recommendation and used OLAPLEX! It is a miracle! My hair is still in tact, and it is so much lighter now. Thanks so much for the tip xx
