The Year in A Post – Count Your Blessings

Don’t worry, this will not be a post of me bragging about my incredible year. Rather, I would like you to think about things that made your year just a little brighter, things that made you laugh, moments that you shared with your loved ones. It’s these things that count, even more so, when on a greater (political and environmental) scale the year has not been so great at all…

Early in January I moved to London for an internship. This was by far the highlight of the year, as I managed to spend the entire year in this incredible city. I have always dreamt of living in London, and now that I have actually achieved this goal, I am quite proud of myself! That being said, it was so damn difficult in the beginning and I still struggle at times, but in the end it is all worth it.

Once I became more comfortable in this new city, I started feeling very lonely. What they say about London being a lonely city is true,  you really have to put yourself out there to meet new people and to potentially make new friends. As an introvert, this was yet another challenge for me. However, the digital age came to my rescue and I met some amazing girls that I am so happy to call my friends today. Another special moment of 2017 was that one time Justin Bieber serenaded my friends and I during a festival… Yes, I am going to mention this till the day I die loves!

Like I said, this year has been full of highs, however the highs were high and the lows were low. I decided to focus on the positive as that is all that matters in the end. Every day that we get to wake up to live yet another day, every minute we get to spend with our loved ones, every time we experience something that makes us smile or that moves us, we should treasure. This might all sound very cliché, but between all the social media ‘goals’ and the fake news littering our feeds, we loose touch of reality.

Lets make 2018 all about cherishing the smaller moments, instead of setting major ‘resolutions’ or ‘personal challenges’ lets try to set smaller daily goals that are very achievable. I will write another article about this very soon so stay tuned!

Until then, all the best wishes for the new year!

Lots of Love,
