Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the 90s. Once again the era has proven to have left a lasting mark on fashion seeing as many trends, including the rise of the fishnets, have returned to our modern society. Fishnets, of course had been worn before the 90s however the styling that most fashionistas use is more influenced by the grunge era. I guess we all have an inner rock-chick…
As far as I can tell there are three common ways to style these tights:
1. Fishnet socks
In case tights are too much for you, or this trend simply doesn’t fit your style, fishnet socks are a good alternative. They are much more modest, yet still give that edgy touch to any outfit. I particularly like the styling on the image above. Elegant shoes, edgy jeans and fishnet socks just scream ‘I am on my way to fashion week’!
2. Keeping it classy
Unfortunately we can’t all walk around like edgy rocker-chicks. Some of us, including myself, have ‘smart’ or even formal dress codes to stick to, making it very hard to incorporate most of the current trends. Worry not my working girls, a good lawyer will agree with me when I saw there are always loopholes 😉 The image above will inspire you to wear your classy skirt, with a cosy sweater and, you guessed it, your fishnets! I would wait until the temperature goes up a little before wearing this outfit though…
3. No holding back
The outfit that got me interested in this trend, distressed denim + fishnet tights. This styling is ingenious, not only does it mean less leg-shaving but also staying a little warmer when wearing jeans with cuts. Also, once the fraying starts to loose its hold and the cut literally becomes a hole, you can hold on to your jeans a little longer and just layer a pair of fishnet tights underneath! Chokers, mom jeans, fishnets and brown lipstick. God, I’m such a 90s baby and I love it!
Lots of Love,
