Divergent Trilogy

So this is
not the typical post you’re used to seeing from me. However, it’s something I
really wanted to share with you since it really had an impact on me. Let me
start with how I got to buy these

My mum and
I decided to have a night out, have
dinner at our local Italian and then go see
Divergent at the cinema. We had such a fun night (with delicious
food), but the movie turned out to be so so
good both mum and I were in complete shock. Alright, I might be exaggerating
a bit. Honestly though, if you haven’t seen this movie yet, go watch it. I
promise you won’t regret it at all.

What does this have to do with books – I hear you thinking. Well, ever
since I saw The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, I really wanted to start
reading the trilogy as well. Mostly because I just couldn’t get enough of the
story. However between school and blogging (and many more stupid excuses) I never got to actually buying the books.

Divergent it was different though, as soon as I left the cinema I couldn’t stop
thinking about what I just saw. This story touched me in a way I can’t even
explain. So I decided – it was pretty
– to buy the trilogy. Ever since I got the books, I couldn’t stop
reading. I’m completely drawn into this story and I don’t know why.

It might be
because Tris is such a relatable character, or because of all the emotions this
story gives me, it might even be because I have missed reading so much. The
excitement of flipping actual pages,
made out of actual paper and actual ink is just so exciting to me.
Between all the digital screens I’m looking at throughout the day, it’s
wonderful to just take a step back and relax, with a book in my hands.

Reading has
always been something I enjoyed, however I hardly ever read for my own
pleasure. It was always for school, I had to read several books within an
amount of time. Although I always ended up enjoying the books, it never got me
to reading books for my own pleasure. For me, it’s because I always tend to
make up excuses like ‘I have homework, I have to watch this, I have to text
that, I have to tweet this, I have to post that’. No. I don’t have to do
any of that. I choose to stare
mindlessly at a screen for hours and hours. So if I feel like reading a book
instead I can, I just have to choose that instead of the screen.

From now
on, I will definitely turn off my electronic devices more often and just read a
good book. Since I finished reading this trilogy on Monday, I will most likely start with The Hunger Games trilogy as soon as possible. Who knows
what comes after that, all I know is that reading is something I should’ve done
much earlier – off screen.

If you
often read books, I would love to see some recommendations in the comments

Lots of Love,
