DIY: Cutting Shorts

Don’t you
just hate when you buy yourself a pair of jeans and after wearing them a few
times you discover small things that make you dislike them… Sounds recognisable?
Or maybe your jeans are just completely worn and you have no choice but to
throw them away. Stop it right there!
There’s no need to throw away jeans that still fit you! Just turn them into shorts! Today I’m going to show you how, it’s very easy!

I decided
to cut two of my trousers, one pair I’ve worn so many times that the hem
started to let loose, which made them a great example. The other pair however,
I just bought a few months ago. Nevertheless I discovered that they attract fluff like nobody’s business! It’s simply
impossible to wear these trousers without constantly trying to get rid of the
fluff. Alright, I understand that fluff is a common thing on black clothing, but
come on, you can see how worse it is
on the pictures! As shorts have much less fabric, I think these black trousers
will become a lot more wearable.

All you
need is a pair of scissors, a marker and of course, your trousers!

My first pair of trousers turned out pretty well, so I was confident enough to give my black trousers a try!

Since I really didn’t want to ruin these trousers, I decided to use another pair of high waist trousers as a guideline. Just lay the shorts on top of the trousers and then try to draw a line as perfect as possible.

As soon as you’re happy with your line, it’s time to cut the trousers. This part can be pretty stressful! My advice is to start a little lower than the line, so if you mess up you can always cut more. Be careful not to make your shorts too short!

Voilà! You’ve just made yourself a brand new pair of shorts!

I hope you liked this DIY post, let me know if you’re going to cute yourself some shorts! Tweet me some pictures of the results @savannah_0203 or send me the pictures on instagram @missvannah
