My flawless skincare routine

When I did my first Insta Stories Q&A last week a question came up asking about my #flawless skincare routine (their words not mine!). Then I started to think about it, I very often receive compliments about my skin but the truth is I don't do very much to keep it clear... In fact, it might be because I hardly wear any make-up. I have never worn foundation, and only sometimes wear BB cream. But my simple skincare routine might just be what you need to try, so here we go!

Beauty on the inside

Cliché I know, but also very important. I truly believe that you are what you eat, therefore I try to balance my diet as much as possible and drink plenty of water and green tea. I went vegan for a few years, but decided it was too difficult and also don't agree with ignoring cravings. Whilst I was vegan, I started craving things I normally never liked such as eggs and meat. I feel like when my body is craving these things (chocolate 😂), it might need vitamins, proteins or other essentials that these foods bring so I eat them. Now I cook vegetarian meals 98% of the time and will treat myself to non-veggie meals when eating out.

Another important thing is staying away from processed food as much as possible. Living and working in London, with day and night jobs (blogging lol) means that I am often tired and can't be bothered cooking. However to avoid eating take-aways, ready-made meals or instant foods all the time I cook in bulk. Nearly everything I cook is made from scratch. I cook 2-3 a week and often make enough for three servings. I don't mind eating the same food two days in a row, but I will freeze the third serving for another time.

Beauty on the outside

Now onto the products! Like I said before, my routine is literally so simple. During the week I don't wear any make-up, unless I've got an event or am meeting friends after work. Because the air in London is so polluted I try to clean my face with Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water even when I am not wearing make-up. I don't do this every day (I am lazy) but I will alllllwaaaays do it if I've been on the Tube.

Every morning and evening I moisturise my face with Simple rich day cream and Simple night cream. I have very dry and sensitive skin so I prefer to use brands like Simple, with only natural ingredients. In summer and winter I tend to have either hay fever or eczema around my eyes, causing little wrinkles and irritated skin. The only eye cream that reverses these problems for me is the Khiels Avocado Eye Treatment. A product I literally cannot live without. I apply twice a day, more if my skin is really bad. Sometimes I also finish off with the Garnier Moisture bomb spray to give my skin an extra moisture boost. I finish off each morning and night by applying a lip balm to keep my lips moisturised and soft.

Keeping clear skin

I am very lucky to have naturally clear skin, but I do get the occasional hormonal breakout. Also after my facial wax (I am very hairy okay) I tend to get little spots as the impact of the wax is too much for my sensitive skin.

To reduce this, and to prevent breakouts from happening I use The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask every other week. This mask is literally the best thing I have ever bought for my skin after the Khiels eye cream. It reduces spots, gets rid of blemishes AND blackheads and leaves your skin clear and glowing!.

To treat spots on the go, I also love using The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil. This stuff literally works wonders on blemishes, use twice a day (even on spots below the surface) and pain and redness will be reduced almost instantly. This is especially great if you don't have time to hang around for 20 minutes with a face mask on your face but stil want to get rid of spots. Because it is so small I always travel abroad with this oil in case my skin gets stressed after the journey and being exposed to a different environment.

Have your got any tips and tricks to keep your skin clear and glowing?

Lots of love,
Savannah
