What I Will Be Wearing This Autumn

I hate to break it to you, but autumn is coming! And I could not have been more excited! As I am writing this now, it is boiling hot in my room. Just as I got over that summer feeling (aka sweating 24/7), we were gifted with (hopefully) one last tropical weekend to enjoy this bank holiday. Yes, it's nice to sit in a park or on a terrace soaking up some sun rays. But there is just something about those dark and gloomy days, about reading a book, with a hot cup of tea and a cosy blanket that just makes me feel so happy and at ease.

That, and the fact that autumn fashion is never disappointing. It is the season that SLAYS all others when it comes to what is trending and what not. This year, I am really struggling to keep my credit card inside my wallet. Instead, I am hitting the shops every week to see what is in the 'new in' section...

This is what I already picked up for the new season, lots of red, lots of gingham, I am loving it all!

This H&M top is so pretty, I am all about the wrap tops, cinched waists and corsets. They are such a lovely touch to an otherwise simple top. Adding a detail like this instantly upgrades your outfit!

As you can tell, I also seemed to have picked up an admiration for statement earrings along the way. Normally I hardly ever wear them, if I do, they always tend to be small and rather dainty accessories. But towards the end of summer I picked up a lovely pair of hoops that inspired me to wear statement earrings more often. They can really put an outfit together. Another love of mine is the classic wrap top, however it is quite the struggle to find one that does not leave your chest over exposed... This Topshop item is just perfect, with balloon sleeves and with black and white stripes you are bound to make a statement.

Now, almost like a child, I cannot wait for the weather to change so that I can start wearing my new clothes! Shopping brings me so much joy, and I don't even regret it anymore 😂

Owning Your Confidence

Don't get me wrong, I am probably not the most confident person out there (at all). However, the other day I read an interesting article about different types of confidence, one of which was the introvert confident person. I could definitely relate to this as I am quite an introvert and although people usually assume that introvert people are shy, this is not always the case.

You can be quietly confident and there is nothing wrong with that, just like there is nothing wrong with showing the world how confident you are. Even if you are not confident at all, there is always the option to 'fake it till you make it'. Personally I am not a big fan of this saying, except when used in this context. It is true that you start to believe yourself after a while, so in this case, convince yourself that you are confident and the confidence will come!

The outfit

But why does it matter? The answer is simple. If you don't believe in yourself, why should others? This applies to basically everything in life, education, work, friendship and love. With confidence comes determination, and with determination you will achieve your goals.

Your Starters Guide to Using Natural Deodorant

Recently, with the 'healthy lifestyle' being on the rise, people have become more and more conscious not only of what we are eating, but also what we have been applying to our bodies. For me, this consciousness started with my Natural Hair transition and has gradually developed into an all-round awareness. In addition to being on a constant search for natural hair products, I have also started a hunt for the perfect natural deodorant. But what exactly is a natural deodorant?

What you want to avoid ideally is an anti-perspirant as they contain the harmful aluminium that clogs the pores and basically prevents the body from what it should be doing: sweating. In the past, I have tried the 100% natural crystal deodorants that you have to wet a little before rolling onto your armpits (it is a bit strange yes). However I found that after a while you really have to clean your armpits and reapply. Now I am not really looking forward to carrying wipes and deodorant everywhere I go. Therefore I went on another search and was recommended the Aurelia Botanical Cream Deodorant. Although it does require some getting used to, the cream is brilliant! Not only is the smell super fresh, the cream turns into a powder when applying to your underarms which means that it dries almost instantly. The hold of this deodorant is remarkable as well, even on the hottest, busiest and sweatiest days you will not smell. Yes, the scent does change slightly towards the end of the day but it is nowhere near the awful smell that most natural deodorants will leave you with.

This Biotherm Deo Pure roll-on is not really a natural deodorant, but rather a less harmful anti-persipirant. I would recommend this as a transition product for when you are looking to go natural in the near future. It is also a good alternative for when you know you are going to have a really long and busy day ahead that will need a little more than just a deodorant (which does not actually prevent sweating). I am a firm believer of everything in moderation, so I will be using an anti-perspirant every now and then. The only thing that puts me off slightly with this one is that the consistency is really creamy, meaning that it does take a while for it to 'set' and dry. However the scent is really fresh, the product holds the entire day and I really did feel the difference between this anti-perspirant and the ones that you would buy at drugstores. The Deodorant Pure is much more gentle on the skin and leaves your armpits really soft.

This Vichy Anti-Perspirant Treatment is a bit more intense, as it lasts up to seven days. However, I picked this one up because it might be interesting to see how this would work in combination with a natural deodorant for extra hold. As I only recently picked this up, I cannot give a proper review yet, but on the day that I did try this out it didn't last even a full day! I will definitely have to try this out a bit more often to give a proper review, but my first impression is not exactly positive.

Please remember that I am not an expert and am simply sharing my own   research findings on the topic and my personal experiences after using the products mentioned above.

Thoughts by The Beach

Today I am sharing a slightly more personal post on the blog, mainly because I have completed yet another chapter of my life and had some time to reflect on the last few years, while keeping the future in mind. Also, whenever I go to the beach I just seem to become rather reflective. There is something about the ocean that is both calming and confronting at the same time.

That being said, I don't actually go to the beach very often so whenever I do find myself with my toes in the sand I get pretty excited! This year I really needed a couple of days filled with relaxation on the beach. Not only was it my final (and extremely stressful) year at uni, but also the year that I went on yet another  experience abroad to do an internship in London. An experience that has yet to come to an end, as I landed a job at the same company where I was interning.

Although the year might have started with quite some tears, anxiety and raised stress levels, halfway through I can luckily say that it was only the first weeks that were difficult. I soon decided to take  my time with my final dissertation (a massive weight lifted off of my shoulders) to focus on the internship and I think I settled pretty quickly in London. Somehow I really feel at home in this city, although it can get quite lonely at times and I obviously miss my family and friends I still can't picture myself living somewhere else.

Recently, I have also made peace with being in my (early) 20s. Where I basically cried on my 19th birthday because I didn't want to leave my teenage years behind (God knows why because there weren't even that great), now at 21 I feel incredible. Without sounding too full of myself of course, I came to a point where I am actually proud of what I have achieved so far. I still have a long way to go, but I have got many possibilities and the fact that I am still quite young made me realise more than ever that I should also take time to enjoy life right now. I am still focused on the future, but something I have learnt in my 20s is to live in the moment.

Another thing that I have noticed is that slowly but surely I have accepted my body a bit more (#bodyposi anyone?). Yes, again, I still have a long way to go and still want to improve many parts of my body, but I also came to realise that I only have one body that gets me up every morning. I should love my body for all the work it does everyday, while still looking pretty good! It's okay to tell yourself every now and then 😉

Off Shoulder

This outfit, although quite simple, I very special to me because of the small bag that I am carrying. I was so excited to have purchased this little gem that I couldn't help but carry it the very next day!

Normally I wouldn't spend a lot of money on luxury items, but I thought this was quite a special occasion as I am only one month away from graduating, I survived 7 months in London and successfully completed my internship

Although I absolutely adore the dress that I am wearing, there is just something about off shoulder items that puts me off. Somehow they are never truly comfortable since they never seem to stay in one place. It is also always a struggle to decide what bra to wear or to leave the bra all together. Am I the only one with these struggles?

My MOO Businesscards

Throughout my years of blogging, there were times that I thought about making my own business cards. However I never seemed to take the necessary steps to actually create them, perhaps because I never found the designs that I truly liked and thought would fit the blog or because creating business cards does make things a lot more official.

Somewhere, somehow, something inside me changed. I decided to take my blog more seriously and naturally creating business cards were top of the list of things to do. After browsing the internet for different websites that offer this service, I stumbled upon MOO. Not only do they offer a wide range of creative designs, but they also offer to have your business cards printed on eco-friendly paper!

Although it was quite difficult to settle for just one design, the polaroid-style business cards caught my eye. I think it is a very unique design for a business card, one that people (hopefully) will remember. I also really like that you can choose different images within the same set of cards.

Looking at my cards now, I am so proud of myself for taking this next step. I have been giving a few out here and there, and I try to always take a few with me wherever I go. Am I going to be that person that shamelessly self promotes? If the time and the place is right, then you bet I am!

If you are looking into creating your own cards, or are looking for other office supplies I can highly recommend MOO!
