Festival Report: North Summer Festival Lille

Guess who was back at it again? You guessed it right, me! If you have been following this space for a while, you will know all about my intense love affair with live music. Where there is live music, there will be a certain curly-haired girl with glasses (me). Can you believe I went nearly 6 months without a concert? Neither can I. My last gig was all the way back in November, when I went to see Bastille. The first concert I went to this year was the Meltdown Festival last month, where I saw the legendary M.I.A.

So you can imagine how excited I was when it was finally time for my first festival of the year! Last weekend, I flew back to Amsterdam, so my friend Carlotte could drive us across Belgium, to Lille (France) to attend the North Summer Festival. What a tour around Europe right? All this so we could see our beloved Justin Bieber perform! We are proper fans indeed.

However, before Justin came on stage we enjoyed a good set by fellow Dutchie Martin Garrix. After the long day we had (we arrived in France around 9 in the morning and queued the whole day), Martijn (Martin Garrix) really did prepare us for the excitement to come. We went from falling asleep while standing, to dancing the night away in seconds!

Alright, we didn't actually queue the entire day. We took a quick break to go to the loo, buy some merchandise and grab a quick bite! Like Carlotte and I, most of the fans were already wearing merchandise, but we just had to get the new collection. The Purpose Tour merchandise is just so gorgeous, like a real brand!

By the time we got inside the venue, we couldn't believe how close we were to the stage. Although we were slightly worried for our safety, considering the fact that we would have thousands of girls pushing us against the barriers, we remained and survived. And boy, was I glad we did! Mid-show, Justin sat down right in front of us to sing Life is Worth Living. He sat there the whole song and basically serenaded us. Quite the experience right? I was in complete and utter shock, unable to even sing the lyrics. My face must have looked a little like this during the entire song....

For those 5 minutes I was the happiest girl alive!

On to the next festival of the year...

Where are you headed this summer?

Lots of Love,
Savannah
